When is Good News Bad?
When the bull market was running at full steam, investors routinely reacted to good news and positive market upticks with increased buying...which of course, added more fuel to the fire.
Since the market has corrected itself over the last year, we have seen a new phenomenon creep in...selling against good news and positive market movement. There are investors and short sellers out there who simply wait for positive economic news to bolster the market, then sell into it. Many analysts have cited this trend as one reason market rallies have not been as sustainable as in previous times.
On the good side, when the Nasdaq was at 5,000 and the Dow over 11,000, most market analysts agreed the market was overbought and that a correction was due...though anyone who claims to have accurately predicted the magnitude of the correction isn’t talking right now.....
...now analysts are saying the market is oversold and a correction is due...to the upside!
Now let’s see if anyone starts selling into that good news!!!
