Amy,
This is a discussion forum for issues affecting the stock. Wouldn't you agree that Intel's attractiveness as an employer is an issue?

People over here always assume that I am knocking Intel. Perhaps when I bring up issues like this or Rambus, they should think about the fact that I might have a valid point?

Scumbria,

I'm not sure you understand the point that Amy was trying to make. I hadn't chimed in, because I figured you made your decision, and you're happy with it, so fine.

But I wonder, if you really made all the dollar figure calculations when you chose to decline the intel offer. I recall when I came to the company, they explained that although the salary was a little lower than the competition, the benefits would make up for it, I thought, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah...... Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, I've been laid off for almost 1 Month now, JUST GIVE ME THE DAMN JOB....

Without going into all the gory details of how I got into that position, suffice to say that it was not one of the better times in my life. At that time it was "Just get me some money coming in while I hunt around for the Job I really want". Then something funny happened.

I started to realize that this was a company that rewarded based on what you did, not how long you had been around. A company that if you busted your butt, you could leap over others who were just "meeting expectations". A company that, yes, worked your butt hard first, with only a promise of rewards "after you prove you can do it."

Then, I started to notice the money piling up. The twice per year bonus', the money intel was contributing to the 401K, the tuition reimbursement, the pay raise percentages, exceeding anything previously that I had received. I won't even bore you with all the Departmental and Divisional Awards with bonus' that came with them.

I think the point that Amy was trying to make, was that SOMETIMES, if a person focuses on the "Monthly Base Pay" as the number one factor, they may overlook the less obvious monetary benefits that are available.

Maybe "they", should also think about the fact, that she might also have a valid point.
