hi ed

"Control Panel/Sounds/Sound Tab/Windows Explorer/Uncheck start navigation"

that clickstream works in win98se. you're dead on the money for that being the annoying (at least to me) clicking sound. it's a wav file named start.wav that is .46 sec long.

now i just have to track that puppy down in win2000pro. there were no event sounds checked (actually they have little speakers in front of them to denote activation) that resembled anything like the prob i'm having, and i don't even recall an explorer entry, but i'll look even closer when i reboot into w2k.

thanks for the help

:)
