First, Kirk was constantly violating the Prime Directive. Second, there is nothing sacrosanct about states, particularly if they are founded on violence. Third, we are all human beings, with an interest in mutual aid.

This is not to say that invasion is generally recommended, since we cannot be responsible for everyone. But lower levels of intervention might very well be entertained, without much mischief. And there are some things that might require more decisive action, if we are to keep our self- respect as a nation.
