Milton Friedman eloquently observed in his book "Free to Choose" that the most subjugated people are those with the lowest per capita income. Seems that if people don't generate wealth for their leaders, they become increasingly dispensable. Perhaps the people would be helped more by promoting increased trade, education and free information flows. Given that the US spy plane landed on Chinese soil, one would have to conclude that that island was the closest land mass at the time of the accident; and that it was far less than 200 miles from the Chinese coast. It isn't surprising that US citizens feel they have the right to go to any lengths to intercept private communications; but would find it most offensive if a foreign entity used similar tactics against the US. I suspect it's time to weasel word an apology; get the crew back for non public concessions; and, move on. FWIW, Ian.
