OT Terry, re: <<I am fully weighted in porcelain - did I get a bum steer?>> (No, I am not ducking this question.)
I had to wait until BigBull's nap time so that his tender feelings wouldn't get hurt. Please don't use the phrase "bum steer." You may well hurt the feelings of a very valuable contributor, even if he doesn't appear here often. Big-no offense intended, he didn't know. Please send him a picture of yourself mounting a heifer. gg.
Now for the question of porcelain vs gold. There are mysterious and powerful men who try to claim the benefits of porcelain vs gold. They are corrupt and manipulative. They short dental labs that deal in gold crowns and go long dollars. THESE PEOPLE ARE NOT TO BE TRUSTED. My own dentist explained this to me at the time he sold me on a gold crown, which, if the truth were known, I didn't actually need. I did, however, like the thought of increasing my "physical" net worth and enjoyed the thought of my wife finally admitting that, even naked, I had intrinsic value.
I did have second thoughts when my dentist glued it in muttering "take that you &%%$ing shorters" and screamed at his assistant "from now on we're strictly drilling and going with gold." I drew the line at having all of my front teeth crowned with gold even though he said everyone would be doing it soon and that it had historically been done. When I disagreed he got a little worked up and started hollering something about whether I had seen "home alone," and didn't that gold tooth look good on film, and why was I in denial.
He almost had me there cause that gold tooth DID look good on film but then I noticed the pictures of little infants around the office, all with little gold teeth drawn in. He was pretty disappointed when I turned him down flat and then he got over it. When I left he was on the phone to someone. I couldn't hear the whole conversation but it sounded like he was asking if they thought the Spanish would still be interested in gold dubloons.
As I left he ran to the office door and started yelling "you'll see, you'll see!" I looked around and there was no one else there so I assume he was talking to me but I have no idea what he meant.
By the way, that gold tooth can really make an impression if you open your mouth really wide, drop your jaw and grimace just right. I can't help but show it off and by the looks I'm getting I think there must be a lot of people out there sick with envy. Oh Ya! Ed |
