Irina, if you're seriously interested in an answer to what gold is, spend the weekend going through the Gold Price Monitor thread. You'll find every kind of explanation & links to why it should or shouldn't go up or down. In a free market, it wouldn't be selling for often less than its cost of production IMO. Depends on whether banker/brokerages/media will continue to rule the Repulic. They had to clean up their act a decade ago... Good luck, and if you find the answer, please share it with us <G>
