I am working with people in telecom on a project -- and they do not see an early end to the capital spending mess. We are likely to see problems persist for 2 or 3 more years. That is why these stocks (equipment vendors) continue to get sold off like they had the plague. It is hard to say when this selling will end. It is also hard to see what the industry will look like when some recovery does take place. There are major issues about system architecture and deployment. When you buy a stock in this sector you need to know that many of the hardware companies face the prospect of losing their shirts as the industry moves away from proprietary standards, and towards the substitution of expensive and redundant hardware which will increasingly be replaced by software. Aloha and watch your step in telecom -- there is a reason why only a handful of new economy bullshit artists are really interested in it.
