I am keen on hearing how Taiwan will not have oil. Especially if the US decides to ship it to them. The idea that Moslems every where are going to rise up at China's instigation is... well, ludicrous. Seems Isreal has been surviving for about what, fifty years now and counting. We will be continuing our consumption of oil for as long as we like. Nobody there to stop us, and the global warming treaty never was going to be enacted. Greens should "get over it". The idea of China manipulating Moslems (and in Indonesia??)to act in concert when the Moslems can't seem to do it themselves... good luck!! :-)
Nuclear parity?? Don't the mainland Chinese have to fuel their missiles first?? And believe me NMD will completely defang EU, Russia, and China.
I have always gotten a big kick out of how the mainland has always carried a grudge and whined about the last 200 years, while also having a smug, "we're the middle kingdom, half way to heaven and above you" on the other. Course, the mainland forgets how Koreans and VN might remember Chinese rule prior to the Euro entrance on the scene.
My friends who have security clearances have gone silent. No doubt everything is mum til the crew is released. Then maybe it will be patty cake time. This is not over; the US,and it's military have their own face to maintain. No economic stuff, no boycotts, nothing to upset trade, just splash a few Chinese fighters like we did the Libyans (and we kept taking their oil) a few years back and honor is restored. Like you I hedge though; went down to K-Mart and loaded up on some clearance sneakers for 9 bucks per. I am not anti Chinese BTW; my computer is Chinese, and so is most of my footware. My Polytech M-14S is ok too, once I replaced a few parts.
