If you get "blacked out" you are only out for about 1.5 to 2 hours. The energy barons ( strong Bush buddies) are using the OPEC business model of reducing the production in order to get the demand higher...thus an increase in price. I live in Seattle so I know about the severe water shortage. Lakes around here are dry. Our natural gas rates tripled this winter because of California problem. Two lines run into Canada for natural gas. Both run at full capacity. I've been told that there is plenty of gas there but it takes time to get it out of the ground. We installed a new energy-efficient natural gas- furnace last summer. Good move on our part as we use less electricity. The blower on air filters run full time. We set our thermostats back as well which helped. Still, electricity rates went up because of California problem. We are not de-regulated. I don't believe people here will vote for it after what has happened in California. M....
