Let's review what has happened on the DAFS/VI front to put this BlueArc stuff in perspective:

WRT reducing CPU bottleneck and using VI on existing infrastructure:

A refresher on DAFS/VI:

What I see is that NTAP has formed a value chain around DAFS/VI that will be hard to break by a newcomer. I believe that DAFS/VI will perform on par (price/performance) with BlueArc, as the concepts seem similar (take the I/O buffering out of RAM; bypass the IP stack; bypass OS overhead; distribute the processing to specialized chip sets on the network interface device).
