OK, so the Soxx has gone up more in the past five years than the Nasdaq. That chart starts in April of 1996, when the Sox was in a cyclical downturn. Looking at a four-year chart, the outperformance of ALTR is much less clear.

So which chart gives us the correct view, the four-year or the five-year? Until you know the earnings growth of each index, there's no way to tell.
