Jay,
"they will be happy to have Thailand"

But they will never get it. The Thai are better soldiers then the VN. Mon Mok Moon, where the VN tried to invade Thailand and got totally routed, as well as the recent roughing up of the Burmese about a month ago, does not bode well for any one who wishes to mess with the Thai.

"and just why would the US do that?"

Why not??

"China supplying a need."

Mmmm... will they be supplying these needs to the Moslems with in their own borders; maybe those Moslems will rely on us, just like the Afgani did. :-)

"explaining the goings on between Isreal and China."

Thats easy... Money :-)

"...as we live on the same planet."

Great. When the Chinese finally meet our pollution Vs widget production ratio(and they ain't even close), we'll talk about it.

"Speaking as a electrical engineer..."

I will count on it. We shot down a Sov ICBM back in 1962, unknown to most. The fact is, is that a mere 100 count NMD forces the Chinese to make even more missiles. They know this, which is why they are bellyaching about it so much. Also, contrary to popular belief, decoys don't work very well.

"a single sub with 24 missiles..."

Yes we've played that game before too, with the Sovs. There will be a US attack sub near by with standing orders to sink her if it sounds like they are going to launch. Tell your Mainland pals they are in the big league now.

"This,IMO, is not where we want to take it."

I agree. But how could the political leadership of China allow such a ham handed handling of this?? It is as if the Chinese were the barking dog chasing the car... and suddenly they catch it. Now, what do they do with it?? Why allow this to go to this extreme with the Chinese media whooping up domestic Chinese opinion??

Frankly, I'd be a bit embarressed if I were the Chinese. In broad daylight, their pilot could not stay out of the way of a old slow lumbering propeller driven transport which looks like it was designed 40 years ago. They should have kept this off the front page.

The Chinese used to claim a line back to a ancient civilization for guidance, but now are "young", and I guess, immature. How can we allow a country which will believe we "lost face" succeed?? We will be looking for pay back at some point, expect it.

Chou, H.H.
