Why does it take 10 years to build a nuke? Actually building it doesn't take 10 years, does it? It's all the red tape, some of which makes sense - site planning and review - and then there's just delay, delay, delay by the no-nukes crowd. But they've got a couple of new plants halfway built that are supposed to come on line next year. Why can't they hurry them up?

Or is there a technical reason like the concrete has to age or something?

(BTW, I really love the "No Nukes" concert. I've got it in vinyl and CD. "The Crow and The Cradle" - Jackson Brown - just blows me away.)
