If an alias has become what you are known as, such as several posters here, they can certainly show damage to their reputation in the online community. Certainly a grey area but I have spoken to several attorneys who believe a case could be made for defamation of an alias. I have no case law to provide you with but I bet you could find some where pennames were involved.
