That's fine if that is how you want to derive your pleasure, but perhaps others find happiness from their physical surroundings? Living in places you admit are more unpleasant than other places, and doing so out of choice, seems rather odd. People in other places seem happier to me however, and (I don't mean to generalize) people in the places you named seem crabby and unhappy. I suppose being masochistic could be worn as badge of honor, but to me it seems silly, life is too short to live someplace I do not enjoy, call me lazy.....
