Hi Paul ..

The partnership cost to GNI is zero .. no shares or ownership of any kind. They earn a commission when they move business through GNI .. the NNN have a strong hold on the newspaper sector & want to move some of their clients to the newspaper online sites .. that of course is GNI's niche focus, when the NNN need to move ad inventory to the online sites they'll use the GNI system .. the NNN rep many of the larger players as you might already know .. it's a win win because the NNN had no 'reliable' way to get their clients online, they had them spending $200 + million a year & no online support until now .. GNI wins through this obvious NNN sales support system which is already in place & all the players know each other .. I'm not sure that most people really get the simplicity .. yet brilliance of this partnership ... I can't think of a better way to build the system, all the while looking for the proper suitor ..

I wouldn't be surprised to see more stories about this partnership, being that it's the first of it's kind & also represents the largest ad revenue sector, 'newspapers' .. far far larger than TV or Radio. I'll bet that at the very least Omnicom & InterPublic are paying attention ... they had the chance to buy GNNU first & now the NNN actually has the first right of refusal to buy GNI (that's just a right, not control of any kind) .. smart move on their part. This all happening when the market & ad sector are in the crapper ... perfect really, when the market turns around & it will .. when the ad sector turns around & it will .. the partnership will already be in place & established ..

Joe Nicholson at Editor & Publisher seems to have a very good understanding of this story .. I'd be watching for his material to generate further media stories as E&P are closely read by the industry.

Mike
