I also see big big trouble in the banking sector
this time no clear LTCM to bail out
the whole team of money center banks are in trouble
the causes have to do with bankrupt businesses
and many more businesses with declining balance sheets

and then you have the derivative losses from big banks

e.g. Morgan Chase has $600M in loans out to ailing LTV Corp
they are the basket case steel maker
LTV has a request for another $225M
do you think LTV will receive it?

plenty of other more viable sectors are ailing besides steel
just an example

watch Inktomi in the next few months for a strong clue
they have something to offer in assets, unlike LTV
unless you want an antique blast furnace

trivia:
what do 25 Steel Companies have in common, all of which went bankrupt since 1970 ???

answer:
all were hamstrung by US Steel Union
