*OT* No place as pretty as New York....
MM- I'm sure many would beg to differ, my friend.
New York has some good qualities. The energy level is amazing. If you're into power games, making/spending big bucks (only certain people allowed) or hanging out with a bunch of people who ridiculously think they live in the center of the universe, New York is definently the place, no doubt.
As far as the restaraunts, museums, and social scene- no doubt, in are high supply...but any city of 12 million should have that....go to Berlin, or Mexico City, or Buenos Aires...the museums, restaraunts, and social scene are just as good, close, or better....IMO...
Astestically (sp?) though, I've never understood why people think New York is that pretty....I've made the drive/flight into the city many times....and it doesn't look that pretty to me.....must be all the brownstone.....looks pretty grimey in fact....and interesting architecture? Given the size of the city, I think it is underwhelming..
Trees overrated? Man, that's New Yorker speak for sure... How can trees EVER be overrated? I find it amusing how Central Park is considered so beautiful..the trees there look so sickly to me....like they're dying to get out....
And that beautiful Hudson River <G>...
I suppose if I were a pure type-A personality, I'd find New York glorious.....but I'd take most European cities in a heartbeat.....largely due to the citizens....
Thanks for letting me pop my cork on this one...<G> |
