Julius, But why does it have to go there again? If we knew it would of course then it would be simple as to how to proceed. This logic seems to be working as we go lower and lower on the Naz (and as Bush gets into more conflicts with other world leaders), but I don't think AMAT and tech stocks in general, have to go to any previous trough valuation. It is perhaps risky to assume that it will. I am thinking that AMAT is more of a blue chip now, and that is one reason why it might now go down there. There have been lots of high profile recommendations in recent months. Another might be the difference in interest rates between now and then. I am not sure how much of a difference that was, but that certainly could be a factor.

Off Topic: What confuses me even more is why stocks like MSFT are holding up so well. I realize their earnings have held, but I don't know how they are managing that, given that Intel has not been able to accomplish this.

I am not sure if the 1.2 happened in 98 or earlier. But in 98 it sure was a great buy at the bottom, and even if you bought quite a bit above the bottom. That is one interesting fact about the great companies over time, you did not have to buy at the bottom. But in tech of course one needs to be more careful since the volatility tends to be extreme.

If you can convince me it will go to 2.0 or lower, then please do so. I wish I could figure out what will happen.

John
