WESTFORD, MASSACHUSETTS, U.S.A., 1997 JUN 9 (NB) -- By Newsbytes Staff. National Canadian local telecommunications provider MetroNet Communications Corp. has selected Cascade Communications Corp.'s [NASDAQ:CSCC] B-STDX 8000 and 9000 Frame Relay Multiservice switches for deployment in that Canada's five largest cities. The company's new telecommunications system allows MetroNet to tie together its frame relay and asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) networks. Cascade's B-STDX switch is a multiservice wide area network (WAN) switch that reportedly supports frame relay, Switched Multimegabit Digital Service (SMDS), and ATM on a single platform at the same time.
