Diseases that are not rare for which there are no treatments, eg, stroke, heart attacks, diabetes,
degenerative diseases of the major joints and spine, Alzheimer's...all big ones, all with huge cost to society
Maybe they'll go somewhere...but consider the research going into genetic disease, eg, all above to some
greater or lesser extent,...do we really believe our health system/economy can afford costs of treatments
of all above at say...pick a number $10k a piece, multiply that by the baby boomers, add in a medical system
eg Medicare, costs government controlled and still not covering meds? And you are going to gamble
your future wealth predicated on a system that "somebody" just has to pay for all of that...I've worked inside the system too long to be optimistic..good luck if you feel otherwise. I might trade Amgen for a quick buck, but I'd lose sleep over putting money in an expensive industry with very little "VISIBILITY" (WS's favorite
newest word) of who is going to pay for it. Certainly most of the folks suffering from those diseases are not going to do it out of their own pockets... or did I misread latest savings figures in US economy.
Good luck
