Teledesic is a privately held consortium backed by MSFT,LOR,MOT and a few others i don't recall off the top of my head.
i do recall MOT pulled it's engineers off the project when Iridium went bust, but i haven't heard what the status of the roll out is.
imo the concept of a LEO constellation delivering broadband without cumbersome dish antennas has promise.

the subscriber base for starband now stands at about 30,000 so thats roughly $21 mil in monthly revenues, but most of their revenue comes from tv broadcast subscribers.

my download speeds with starband run from a low of 350kbs to a high of 1.5mbps and average of 650kbs... the only real drawback being the latency of about 800ms..but no getting around that considering the round trip for upload and download is nearly 100,000 miles.
