I wonder - and would not be surprised - if the ripoff bonuses for FPL executives were at the root of the merger not going through!

Entergy chief executive Wayne Leonard would not have received any bonuses or retention payments, although he stood to double his annual $836,538 salary after becoming chief executive officer of the combined utility while FPL's chief honcho took $21 million last December (and $60 million total for a small group) on a faulty change of control provision that was not contingent on the merger closing.
