re: I suspect he's planning to open a members-only investment web site

Gosh, I hope the site will be monitored more closely than some of the "other" sites we all know and hate. There should be some rules set up right away.

1) No name calling, unless of course the dumber-than-a-ton-of-rocks poster REALLY deserves it.
2) Every post must have at least one humorous play on words. Multiple puns in a single post get extra credit. Perhaps he can use a series of $$$$ to determine the credibility of the poster. More puns, more $$$$ awarded.
3) 90 out of every 100 posts must relate to grubbing a good post number. Roughly 50% of those can be gloating over, or whining about having missed, the most recent grub. The other 50% will be the maneuvering and actual grubbing.
4) An occasional reference to the stock market would be OK, so long as it doesn't too closely follow another post referring to the same stock ticker.
5) Absolutely NO references to rum will be allowed.
6) No one will be admitted to the thread until they provide evidence of having documented for the SEC the shenanigans of at least one corrupt MM and/or evil Canadian short-seller.
7) No bermuda shorts allowed. Particularly, not plaid ones.

Yeah. That's the ticket. That would make for a real swinging thread.
