Reading that last article reminds me- The FIRST THING that was pounded into my head in learning Technical Analysis is to 'PAY NO ATTENTION TO NEWS.' Reacting to and following the news will kill you. Only use the news as a contrary indication, and even then do so very carefully.

Earnings reports don't matter, because they are lagging indicators. The price pattern will tell you more about future earnings than any conference call. Price, volume, A/D and their derivatives should be the only things that matter to a technician. The news is for suckers.
