Neo, there are many different styles of leadership. Hectoring from a perspective of might and perceived moral superiority is but one of them.

I think that focusing one's disapproval better, and seeking to be more effective, is a good idea.

Yes, focusing one's disapproval is more effective than unfocused disapproval. At question, however, is the relative effectiveness of official state disapproval. There are players other than the State Department and there are techniques other than looking down one's nose.
