Ceapro signs $5-million contract with Ultravena

Mr. Gene Gunderson reports

Ceapro has signed a new exclusive five-year contract for Ceapro oat powder
with Ultravena Industries USA, Ltd. of Green Bay, Wis. The value of this
contract will be a minimum of $5-million. Ultravena, with several U.S. and
international patents pending for the manufacture of latex examination
gloves and barrier products, shall buy Ceapro oat powder exclusively for
their end manufacturing use. Ceapro has just received a 20-metric-tonne
order from Ultravena under terms of this new contract.
The renewable five-year exclusive contract replaces a previous agreement
signed in May, 2000. The new contract allows Ultravena to acquire Ceapro
oat powder for licence partners of Ultravena who manufacture Ostar latex
gloves for the world market. This new contractual arrangement is expected
to rapidly accelerate the quantity of Ceapro oat powder required to serve
this new expanded network of licensed manufacturers.
Ultravena has conducted significant research into the use of oat powder in
latex products to alleviate latex allergy syndrome while at the same time
providing superior barrier protection for medical professions, emergency
response personnel, and food and beverage preparation workers. Ultravena
has completed several large-scale supply agreements for its latex products
and anticipates rapid acceleration of its growth in the dynamic barrier
protection field.
Ultravena president and chief operating officer, Gene Gunderson, stated:
"We are very pleased to enter into this long-term agreement with Ceapro.
Our high-quality, leading-edge product technology relies on Ceapro's unique
oat materials to help deliver great benefits to these professional
end-users. The barrier protection market continues to expand rapidly with
the high awareness of infectious diseases, particularly HIV and Hepatitis
B. Latex provides the highest quality protection and oat powder alleviates
the skin irritations that regularly result from the use of gloves. Most
important, oat powder in gloves dramatically reduces protein absorption
which is the primary cause of latex allergy."
Doug Clement, Ceapro's vice-president, business development, added:
"Ultravena is another great example of how Ceapro oat ingredients used in
conjunction with other leading technologies, provides excellent human
benefits. Consistent with our trademark, 'Nature Enhancing Life,' Ceapro is
delighted to have Ultravena as our exclusive partner in this exciting
high-growth industry sector."
