HTP stock contest update!
So far I've got five viable entries. Entries are being accepted until 9:30 am next Monday. I am certain that all loyal HTPeon's are, as we speak, busily poring over quarterly reports and analyst comments (from Briefing.com, no doubt) and will submit crackerjack entries. This contest will be the glue that cements the burgeoning community that is quickly becoming High Tolerance Plasticity. Or whatever.
So far I've compiled the Big-Cap Tech pix:
CommanderCricket ITWO CSCO SUNW ORCL NT Warpfactor SEBL EMC JDSU EBAY VRSN pls418 CSCO JDSU EMC SUNW ADCT Jungle Investor BGEN DNA GENZ IDPH AMGN Rory Heiner HWP NOK MOT EMC NT
Favorites are quickly shaping up: EMC - 3 votes CSCO - 2 JDSU - 2 NT - 2
Here are the rules again, so members won't have to sift through the archives:
" Here are the final contest rules for the HTP stock picking contest. Start: 4/16/01 End: 12/31/01 or whatever the last trading day of the year happens to be. There will be 5 categories:
1) Large Cap Tech - over $5B market cap. Long position only. 5 equal positions of $20K each 2) All Cap Tech - Any market cap. Long positions only. Must trade on the NASDAQ, AMEX or NYSE. No bulletin board stocks. 5 equal positions of $20K each. 3) All Cap All Sector - Long and short. Must trade on the NASDAQ, AMEX or NYSE. No bulletin board stocks. 5 equal positions of $20K each. 4) Oil Service Stocks - Long only. Must trade on the NASDAQ, AMEX or NYSE. No bulletin board stocks. 5 equal positions of $20K each. 5) E&P Stocks - Longs only. Must trade on the NASDAQ, AMEX or NYSE. No bulletin board stocks. 5 equal positions of $20K each.
An added twist: there will be two dates of my choosing during the contest where contestants may drop one stock from each portfolio and add a new one at the same dollar value of the sold holding.
With these categories, I will create various mutual funds and indexes, as well as a HTP model port for each category. Entrants may enter some or all of the contests. Dividends will not count (sorry ROYL shareholders). All that counts is the beginning and ending share price. Splits and acquisitions will be factored in.
The last rule, each contest must have 5 different stocks. You cannot enter KEG, KEG, KEG, KEG and KEG for your oil services entry, or anything similar in the other contests.
You've all got until next Sunday (April 15th) to submit your entries, so get working. If we ever have that rig party, I'm certain there will be prizes for the winners. Speaking of winners, there will be winners of each contest (5 total), an energy winner (#4 and #5 combined), a tech winner (#1 and #2 combined), and an overall winner. " |
