Not too bad. Houston still struggles with the "good ol' boy network", alternating between someone pretty competent and the supporters of cronyism like Lanier and anyone named Hoffheinz. Brown, since his stint as police chief, knows how the city works and seems to be doing a competent job. Now as to the City Council... But that is another story.
