indicated that there was no way to beat the indices Aren't people beating the indices right now by shorting some of the tech's? It maybe unlikely that a person could beat the indices year after year(for 20 years), but it is very likely that a person could trounce it for a number of successive years prior to missing.The Lynch example is a good one. The only thing he did was pick stocks that were growing faster than the indices (about 2000 of them as I recall). Jerome
