Intel to Introduce Latest Pentium 4 Processor Earlier,Cheaper investor.cnet.com

Bloomberg is reporting the 50% cuts now too.

Taipei, April 10 (Bloomberg) -- Intel Corp. will introduce its latest computer chip about a month earlier
than planned, pricing it almost 45 percent cheaper than it originally intended because demand lags
expectations, the CTech Web site said, citing unidentified Taiwan computer makers that use Intel
chips.

The biggest chipmaker will offer a 1.7-gigahertz Pentium 4 processor, the most powerful version yet,
for $352 by the end of April. The chip was earlier scheduled to be released on May 27 for $637, said
the report by the technology news Web site. Higher- speed chips can process more data.

''We have a 1.7 gigahertz version coming up, but I can't talk about pricing or the date,'' said Evia
Shum, an Intel spokeswoman in Hong Kong. The fastest Pentium 4 on the market today is a 1.5
gigahertz chip that sells for $637, she said.
