I agree, that would be a desperate move from Intel. But if these price cuts are real, AMD will have a very hard time to maintain Athlon ASPs. Even if you consider added platform costs for P4 (Rambus, expensive motherboards etc.), Athlon can't be priced that much above P4s. So if a 1.4 GHz P4 sells for $193 at the end of the month, we can expect the 1.3 GHz Athlon in the same range, probably even below. Unless, of course, AMD changes its pricing strategy. The best strategy to counter these price cuts would be IMO the release of a 1.4 GHz Athlon.
