It seems recently from my own anecdotal experience surfing that there are more web-sites that haven't been recently updated and/or web-sites that are no longer in existence than I remember from last year. Anybody else have a feel for this?

This is true, especially of the smaller websites, set up by shady outfits that thought they could make a quick buck off "The Internet." But these people don't use NTAP boxes. And even if their hosting providers use NTAP boxes, the amount of storage in question is negligible.

You are neglecting two things, however: 1) NTAP boxes aren't just for websites and 2) The TOTAL NUMBER of websites is always growing, and there are more now than there were then, even if the fraction that's updated is smaller... i.e., a smaller slice of a bigger pie.
