Dale: Good article on utilities. If the gov't [US, State, Local (zoning)] weren't involved and supply demand economics dominated the situation, this could be a great sector. The problem is that the gov't can and does get involved with a very different agenda. Any illusion that gov't actions would be benign towards critical industries has been dispelled by the PG&E experience. These guys didn't want to participate in this 'de-regulation' experiment, but were drug to the table - then cooked and eaten. I fear similar fates await others that get between the rising costs of scarce resources and politically protected consumers...they will be used as 'shock-absorbers' resulting in impaired profitability.
