I am relying on the average rate of appreciation prior to the bubble, but I am not relying on symmetry because I don't think it matters whether it deviates from the mean further on the upside or the downside. At times like this, I find it helpful to have a visual representation of the very long term performance, because it helps me keep things in perspective, and I was hoping others would find it useful as well.
