Random screwy question: If technology company X, who has a life of 40 years, never pays a single dividend during the history of the company (because they believe they must constantly reinvest what cash they have in the business...inventing new products, buying back stock <G>, whatever)....until they screw up one day, and go out of business....

Was that company ever really worth anything? (other than book value at any given time?)..

Are most technology companies ever going to pay a dividend? At some point, they'll likely mal-invest their cash until there's nothing left...no?

Therefore, maybe most technology share prices have much, much further to go....

(Sorry if this question seems too basic, or has been asked before.... really just occured to me)
