Sudan: Canadian oil company executive denies oil revenues fuelling war in south Sudan TV, in Arabic, April 10
The chairman of the board of directors of Canadian oil company Talisman which is operating in the oil sector in the country has said oil revenues are being used in different development projects, thus refuting all the allegations being made by Western media organizations in this regard.
Reporter: Mr Peter Windrington, the chairman of the board of directors of Talisman, which operates in the oil sector, and who visited Sudan a few days ago, said the oil revenues were being used to finance various development projects, such as water and electricity utilities and health and educational services. He said his visit, which was the third one, came to refute Western media reports that the oil revenues were being used for purposes of displacement and war. He said the visits also came in the context of finding out Talisman Company's contribution to social development in areas where the company was operating.
Windrington: This is my third visit to these areas. I have come this time to find out the various developments projects undertaken by Talisman and Greater Nile companies in the field of community development. I have seen the services that have put in place which have attracted many people to the area. It has also solved the unemployment problem. During our visit to Hajlij, Wahdah, Rab Kona, Paryang, it became clear to us the great services being provided in the water sector, hospitals, schools and roads. |
