Ariba Expands Capabilities of Ariba Commerce Services Network

Latest Release Increases Scalability and Openness of Leading Global B2B Network

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., April 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Ariba, Inc. (Nasdaq: ARBA), today announced enhancements to the Ariba Commerce Services Network(TM) (Ariba CSN) that will enable buyers and suppliers to more efficiently and cost-effectively create and maintain relationships, move business transactions online and conduct business with trading partners worldwide.

First launched in March 1999, Ariba CSN is one of the most widely adopted and liquid global networks of its kind for B2B commerce and collaboration, allowing businesses of all kinds, anywhere in the world, to connect and trade. Ariba CSN is integral to Ariba's Value Chain Management (VCM) solutions, providing the scalable, global network infrastructure customers require to connect to and collaborate with their trading partners.

The latest version of Ariba CSN includes:

-- Multiple language, and localization capabilities to meet the needs of

global markets and remove many of the inefficiencies in international

trade. Ariba CSN supports Brazilian Portuguese, Chinese, Dutch,

English, French, French Canadian, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean and

Spanish, allowing companies worldwide to participate in B2B eCommerce

regardless of language and currency.

-- Increased transaction capabilities that will enable buyers to more

efficiently interact with their preferred suppliers and enable

suppliers to lower their sales costs and benefit from deeper

relationships with buyers. Suppliers may also send status updates to

buyers, giving buyers additional visibility into the real-time status

of their orders.

-- Improved scalability in creating buyer-supplier relationships. By

automating the invitation process, buyers can now simultaneously invite

multiple suppliers to transact business with them on Ariba CSN. Buyers

will also have increased access to their preferred suppliers,

increasing trading partners' liquidity by simplifying interoperability

between the expanding community of buyers, suppliers and marketplaces

enabled on the Ariba CSN.

Ariba CSN is experiencing massive growth in adoption and liquidity -- with individual companies bringing billions of dollars of spend, and trading directly with more than 7,000 suppliers, and providing access to an additional 30,000. In addition, commerce relationships and transaction volumes have doubled every quarter since the launch of Ariba CSN. This success demonstrates the incremental value of Ariba CSN to Ariba customers and their trading partners.

"To succeed in the new economy, companies across the globe must move their business processes online, building or accessing electronic environments where they can interact with customers and suppliers," said Charly Kleissner, senior vice president, Product Solutions, Ariba. "To support these interactions, businesses need a robust, scalable network infrastructure that provides connectivity, integration, and network services. The versatility offered by Ariba's unmatched network helps buyers and suppliers to quickly adapt to changing conditions in the B2B world to redefine their business and transform their bottom line."

Ariba CSN addresses all the network needs of companies participating in B2B -- from basic interoperability and connectivity to advanced capabilities for specialized commerce processes, including:

-- Connectivity between all trading partners,

-- Integration across Ariba and non-Ariba applications,

-- Content management and search solutions,

-- Foundation services that ensure secure management and translation of

multiple document types, and

-- Commerce services, delivered by Ariba and its partners, that enable the

end-to-end commerce process.
