I agree. This looks like a rally. Given the over-sold nature of the market for the last several months, this rally probably has some legs. In any event, the opportunity to pick up JDSU at a p/e (normalised) of 20 was something I could not resist, as a long-term investor in growth companies.

The only question is, are we at the beginning of a new bull market or a counter trend rally? If the latter, history tells us to expect perhaps a 50% retracement and a return to the present or lower levels over the next 3 to 6 months.

If one has a long term horizon _and_ is willing to buy when most other investors are selling out at historically low P/Es, then the question of bear vs CTR is moot. However, in a month or two I'm expecting there will be a bunch of people posting here like before: "JDSU went up 15 yesterday. Is this a good time to buy? I hear it's a good stock....." Those guys will get creamed, again. People who urge caution and who say 'Mr. Market is over-pricing this stock so wait for a more propitious p/e' will again get a pack of criticism. Sigh, that's the way it works.

Ciao,
