10:04 ET Sector Watch: Semiconductor : -- Technical -- Index surges sharply higher in the wake of the pre-market upgrade and has challenged its 50 day simple ma (599) which stymied the two rally attempts in March. Ability to break above here initially targets the 50% retracement off the Jan high at 608. An important key over the short term will be if the index will be able to close above the 50 day ma which it failed to do in March.
