Austin, Texas-based Lane15 declined to give details on the level of financing it received from Dell or other investors in its just-completed first round of financing, which the company said will go to product development
Lane15's recent investors include Compaq, the Intel Capital unit of chipmaking giant Intel Corp. (NasdaqNM:INTC - news), Austin Ventures, AV Labs and Lightspeed Ventures.
A privately-held, one-year-old start-up, Lane15 makes software for InfiniBand hardware vendors such as Dell, Compaq and other members of the InfiniBand Trade Association.
Formed last year, the trade group seeks to establish InfiniBand technology standards for more reliable and scalable capabilities for Internet data centers, which process communications, transactions and operations for client Web sites.
``As commerce moves to the Internet and business happens in real time, InfiniBand will eliminate a potential bottleneck in server/storage architecture,'' said Manish Mehta, a principal at Dell Ventures.
