I don't think he's "divorced from his public utterances." I assume the stocks he listed are ones his company has already bought for their customers so it would be nice if other people bought them, too. It may be useful to know what other people are buying since that tends to imply that they will appreciate in price. It doesn't bother me in the least when someone as sensible as Meehan calls my attention to a few stocks out of the many thousands out there. I just take into account the factors I listed - he has a GARP style, he likes value, he takes risks, and the stocks he mentions are probably ones his company already bought. He's great at finding value stocks. I put more weight on the macroeconomy as part of the fundamentals than he does, I think, or maybe he understands the macroeconomy differently than I do.
