This is bad practice, Ted. When you report an unsubstantiated rumor, you propagate it. If you believe the "rumor moving the market" is news, then you should also recognize the potential for CNBC to "make news" if it propagates the same rumor.

Would it be too much to ask you to substantiate the rumor before reporting it?
