Why would any non-homicidal person want a lethal weapon, designed purely to allow someone with minimal skill and knowledge to kill at range, in their home?
For self defense. If it's unloaded, in a locked cabinet, it's unlikely to be of immediate use, unless you're seriously expecting a warning from the attacker... Or would you keep it by the bedside? <woken by sudden noise> <footsteps in night coming near> <fumble, fumble, grab, BANG> "daddy, i only wanted a cuddle..." BTW, wasn't there a case of some poor trick-or-treater being shot in 'self-defense' a few years back?
Also for use at a range for target practice... or for hunting Yep. Target practice with an Uzi must be exciting. Same with hunting. And boy, do those paper targets need teflon-costed, jacketed magnum rounds... Why not keep it at the club? And what kind of sporting hunter wants/needs more than a shotgun (NOT pump-action...) or a single-action .22 anyway... WTF would they be hunting, trucks?
as part of a collection Of course, if they're all disabled - breech removed & stored separately, firing pin removed, barrel blocked, etc - then maybe, but I doubt they'd have much value. So keep them in a club museum so that others can admire your vast array of killing tools... If you want to collect automatic weapons, and keep them in your own house to gloat over in private, I'd say you're probably not a fit and proper person to be allowed them. Or indeed anything more dangerous than a butter knife...
I see your arguments, but I prefer mine... |
