I chose safe mode when the offer came up. You think maybe i wasn't in that, but was in DOS? Hmmmm. That's disconcerting because I was hoping I could do this again if I needed to. Though the business of the expert taking over your computer, which is like, in fact is exactly like, a deus ex machina, has the downside that you are more spectator at times than participant, so are left with areas of confusion about what has transpired.
Does the command prompt, which is certainly what it was, mean I definitely wasn't in safe mode?
Well, it worked, so i guess i shouldn't be concerned.
I just rebooted after running scandisk, is all. Then I went back and did Start, run, msconfig... and put the check marks back in all the utilities that Meghana had unchecked, and rebooted again. My computer has been rebooted so many times in the last two days its monitor is spinning. |
