It is amazing what we learn from our grandmothers. I learned a lot about just plain cooking from mine. One dish was called "German Dumplings". Very basic, pork, balls of flour and sauerkraut, but I love it and miss it. She was English and Ried was her last name. I think there may be a bit of German in that? My mother taught me to make another recipe called "poltz" it is supposed to be Norwegian. I don't know but I love both of those dishes. They are plain and like avacados, you have to develop a taste for them. If anyone wants the recipe I would be more than willing to share but be prepared...........for weird. LOL ;-) M
