Nasdaq PE:
I agree that the PE of 288 doesn't seem right, but your method will generally not yield a # comparable to the Composite's PE either. What inflates the number is the substantial # of money losing medium cap Nasdaq issues. I believe their losses are subtracted out of the profits before the Nasdaq PE is calculated. There's also the issue of trailing earnings vs forward "guesstimates" as well. I think the trailing Nasdaq PE may be in the 80 to 90 area.
