KastelCo, yeah you’ve been there on the smoking alrighty. I tried the gum and actually it worked like a charm...I haven’t chewed gum since. My sister who is an accupuncturist keeps wanting to put seeds in my ears, don’t know what they are and don’t want to know.
The closest I’ve managed to come to reducing the cravings has been with the patch, but it comes at quite a hassle.
It really lets ya know what nicotine is all about, and as a bonus, it comes with nightmares. Really, the drug gives you interactive nightmares that are of hallucinogenic quality. They say to wear the Habitrol patch all day and all night...but, you never know what you’re going to find it stuck to in the morning. Actually, the patches make you realize that cold turkey may be the best method. There’s nothing like a nicotine overdose to get you in touch with the addiction.
I kind of wonder what Zyban (I think it is) is like. One of the side effects is supposedly seizures, but hey, what’s a few seizures? I guess it does point to the severity of the addiction if what you take to quit can also be lethal.
Ralfph, that TEK.b is looking mighty nice and it’s got that nice uptrend (since August) that I like to see to fall back on if it needs to. It’s a little rich for my blood at the moment though. I took a few healthy drawdowns (sounds better than losses) to loosen up some capital. My quest is now for the perfect uptrending stock and coincidentally the Holy Grail. Cold turkey quitting for smoking eh? I don’t know if my heart is up to it LOL.
Yeah Tyke, I could try lying to myself, and not for the first time...I’m actually much slimmer than I look. I could try to project a non smoker into there. Actually though y’know, I sort of tried your idea today and found it may have quite a bit of value...it’s a matter of fooling your subconcious into accepting a different reality, I suppose. I wish it were an academic exercise but it isn’t...the addiction must reside deep within the reptilian portion of the brain. Oh well, I’ll try burrowing in after it.
