Ascend Communications, Inc. and Cascade Communications Corp. announce termination of antitrust waiting period

ALAMEDA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 10, 1997--Ascend Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:ASND) and Cascade Communications Corp. (NASDAQ:CSCC) today announced that they had received notice from the Federal Trade Commission that the waiting period relating to the proposed merger of Cascade and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ascend under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act (the "Act") had been terminated. The companies are therefore eligible under the Act to proceed with the merger. The companies expect to close the merger by June 30, 1997.
